Manual lymph drainage, also known as MLD, was developed in France in the 1930s by Emil and Estrid Vodder. It is a gentle, non-invasive approach to increasing the natural lymphatic flow. MLD benefits many different conditions as it has a detoxifying effect while draining excess fluid from the tissues.
MLD is particularly important for people who have undergone lymph node removal/dissection and radiation therapy as a preventative measure or treatment for lymphedema. It can also benefit individuals suffering from many other conditions, including :
- Primary or secondary lymphedema
- Post-surgical trauma
- Traumatic injuries
- Migraines
- Chronic sinusitis
- Arthritis
- Wounds
- Dermatological disorders
- Pre-surgery preparation
- Burns
- Fractures
- Whiplash
- Neuralgia CRPS
- Fibromyalgia
- Stress
- Sprains/strains
